What is Orthodontics?
An Orthodontist is a dental specialist who has completed an additional two or three years of full-time education to specialize in the assessment, prevention and correction of irregularities in tooth and jaw relationships.
Why Orthodontics?
A pretty smile is not the only reason to consider orthodontic treatment, nor is treatment just for children or teenagers. In fact, 25% of orthodontic treatment is performed on adults. It is never too late to improve oral health. Gently moving teeth into proper alignment can correct almost any condition that causes an improper bite. There are several advantages to having properly aligned teeth:
- Chewing is more efficient – thus enhancing digestion.
- They should last a lifetime, whereas teeth which do not meet properly when chewing are very likely to be lost prematurely due to lack of exercise.
- They promote healthy gums and surrounding bone.
- You have a more pleasant smile
